,s-fehler’ is about memory machines and the transformation of memory. Technical errors that cannot be described in a linear form are examined. A recording of
an 's', recorded by an acoustic-mechanical speaking machine reconstructed from the 18th century, is ,internally’ copied between two computers over a thousand times. The resulting, only in subtle
nuances perceptable changes of the sound material that emerges from the copying process, characterize the temporal structure. The detailled recording of these errors erases the memory of previous
sound sequences.
