‚Stalactites‘ is a site-specific installation symbolizing a dialogue between light and space. In several rooms , neon tubes are hanging vertically from the ceiling. These ‚stalactites‘ direct the observer‘s attention to the architecture of the room in general as well as to neglected corners in particular. In an interplay with natural day light, the stalactites create changing light situations. The intention is to highlight the fascinating relation between day light and artificial light, and address the discrepancy between artistic merit on the one side, and functional integration on the other – therefore stimulating reflections on the interrelation between art and every day life.
