In a combination of workshop and concert, the different playing techniques of the Ochtrup Nightingale – a clay vessel water flute – were explored in this participatory happening. Spatial compositions were tested, the individual sound world of each unique instrument was made audible, and the diverse sonic possibilities of the instrument were recorded. From these sounds, an entirely new acoustic world emerged around this special instrument, which was translated into a final sound piece.
This happening took place in St Mary’s Church in Ochtrup in cooperation with Ochtrup Stadtmarketing und Tourismus GmbH, the music school, the pottery museum, the parish of St Lambertus and the town of Ochtrup. For this sonic journey of discovery with the vessel flute, a special “Klangwelt” edition of the Ochtrup Nightingale was produced.
